Hope Is Rising

Rays warm the remaining chill
Wonders of life and new beginnings
Hope is rising

Living colors quietly emerge
Heralds of the change that’s began
Hope is rising

Ephemeral visions, fleeting beauty
Leaves an ache for the eternal
Hope is rising

Greater joy is yet to come
Yet each glimpse is worth savoring
Hope is rising

Spring ephemerals are the first flowers to emerge each spring once the chill of winter leaves the earth. Their beauty is a herald of the hope of life, warmth and summer. Each year their appearance encourages me so much. They have become a sign for me of hope and rebirth in my own health journey. Painting these flowers with the colors of the land adds a layer to the richness of this work.

Forged ink continues to change and evolve in value and hue with the passage of time and the natural oxidation process. The medium invites us to contemplate the continual motion of time and the fleeting ache of beauty. Just as spring ephemerals remind us we are not made to live here forever, their beauty points to the hope of warmer times and greater joy - an eternal spring. Even so it is good to slow down and notice them. Notice the small wonders and beauties of a world awakening.
